FWC: Three Injured After Two Boats Collide During Annual Merritt Island Christmas Boat Parade

Authorities have not yet identified the boat driver

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Authorities were called to the scene of a boat crash that injured three people Saturday night during the annual Merritt Island Christmas Boat Parade on Sykes Creek.

According to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesperson, FWC officers responded to reports of a vessel incident in Brevard County.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. near Artemus Boulevard and Sykes Creek Drive.

“Two vessels registered in the Merritt Island Boat Parade collided, resulting in three individuals being transported to the hospital. This is an active investigation, and no further information is available at this time,” said an FWC spokesperson in a release.

The extent of the injuries and the identities of the injured are not yet known.

Authorities have not yet identified the boat driver, who was operating a boat decorated to look like a Corvette.
