BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Indialantic Chamber Singers are celebrating 25 years of music! Formed in 1999, the mixed-voice ensemble of auditioned singers will continue their silver anniversary season with Sing We Now of Christmas.
The first concert of holiday favorites will be performed on Friday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 300 Malabar Road SE in Palm Bay.
The 30-member singing group will reprise the performance in a second concert on Sunday, December 15, at 3:00 p.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, located at the base of the Melbourne Causeway at 106 N. Riverside Drive in Indialantic. The program will celebrate the group’s history, with favorite Christmas pieces performed over the past 25 years.
As the program title suggests, the audience can expect to hear “Sing We Now of Christmas,” along with “Ding Dong Merrily on High” and the beloved carol “Silent Night.” Also on the program are “O Holy Night,” “I Saw Three Ships,” and several stirring arrangements by the preeminent choral composer, John Rutter.
The audience can join in the festive music by participating in a sing-along of “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.” Artistic Director Beth Green will conduct the group, with piano accompaniment by Teresa Fleenor.
Founder and Conductor Emeritus David Vogeding will direct the singers in “I Wish You Christmas.” A free, on-site reception will follow Friday’s concert.
Indialantic Chamber Singers Artistic Director Beth Green explains what makes Sing We Now of Christmas so special.
“This beautiful music only comes around at the holidays,” said Mrs. Green. “This year, we looked back at 25 years of past Christmas performances and chose some of our absolute favorites to share once more.”
The Indialantic Chamber Singers have performed several times in the nation’s capital at the invitation of the Washington National Cathedral. The group is considered Brevard’s premier choral ensemble and is at home at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic.
Sing We Now of Christmas is free of charge, with a suggested donation of $10 to $15. The organization is supported entirely by patron donations.
