BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA —Killer, the Gulf Coast box turtle, has earned the title “Most Likely to Quietly Take Over the World” of all the animals housed at the Brevard Zoo.
Wandering Wild Florida, it’s easy to miss Killer, the Gulf Coast box turtle, when you have Florida black bears, deer and turkeys around you at the Brevard Zoo. You ignore Killer at your own peril, said Brevard Zoo officials in a Facebook post.
What makes Killer World Domination material, you ask?
“Killer is very small and unassuming,” said his animal care team at the Brevard Zoo.
“When you first see him, he could be on the other side of the habitat minding his own business. If you take your eyes off of him for just a second, he’s going to be at your feet. He is a real-life Ninja turtle,” said Jenna Bakhuizen, Herps & Aquatics Area Supervisor at Brevard Zoo.
“Killer has a large, mighty personality for such a small turtle. Once he sets his mind to something, he pursues it with full force, not to be deterred by anything.”
“Whether that be focusing wholeheartedly on a training session or clearing his territory of perceived invaders (his keepers at times), he gives everything he does his all,” said Nicole Payne, Herps & Aquatics Curator of Animals.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Next, the Brevard Zoo will lighten the mood with the pick for the “Life of the Party” title.
