Brevard Basketball Stars at the Collegiate Level

Zane Garcia of the FNLR and Space Coast Daily teams highlights Brevard County natives performing at the next level. Highlighting men and women who are playing college basketball and playing well.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Zane Garcia of the FNLR and Space Coast Daily team takes a look at the Brevard County natives who are performing at the next level. Highlighting men and women who are playing college basketball and playing well.

A season ago, we highlighted the athletes from Brevard County who advanced to the Collegiate level.

For the 2026 edition, we will first highlight the women playing collegiately, from Freshmen to Seniors, who are representing Brevard County.

WOMEN

She spent time in South Bend with the Notre Dame Irish, but decided to transfer closer to home this past year, heading to Florida State University. This season, for the Seminoles, Risch has started five games, averaging 8 points and 3 rebounds. (Florida State University Image)

Emma Risch/Junior/ Florida State University/Palm Bay High School – Space Coast Daily has followed Emma Risch since high school, even before she became a McDonald’s All-American.

She spent time in South Bend with the Notre Dame Irish, but decided to transfer closer to home this past year, heading to Florida State University.

This season, for the Seminoles, Risch has started five games, averaging 8 points and 3 rebounds.

Civil helped lead the Pirates to the 4A State Championship victory just a year ago. As a highly recruited prospect, she decided to sign with the University of Tennessee. Jaida Civil/Freshman/ University of Tennessee/Palm Bay High School – Jaida Civil is another Palm Bay Pirate to be named a McDonald’s All-American, and she helped lead the Pirates to the 4A State Championship victory just a year ago. As a highly recruited prospect, she decided to sign with the University of Tennessee.

Through her first year with the Vols, Civil has started nine games, averaging six points a game and just under four rebounds a game.

Williams spent her entire Freshman season injured for the Pittsburgh Panthers. After the season, she transferred to La Salle University, where she has started every game. Williams is averaging nine points and four rebounds a game for the Explorers. (La Salle University Image)

Kiara Williams/Redshirt Freshman/ La Salle University/Palm Bay High School – Williams was a big-time player for the Pirates and was recruited by many top schools in the nation. Williams spent her entire Freshman season injured for the Pittsburgh Panthers. After the season, she transferred to La Salle University, where she has started every game.

Williams is averaging nine points and four rebounds a game for the Explorers.

MEN

Improving his stats and skills each year he caught the attention of Division I, Coastal Carolina and signed there this past fall. This season, Hill has started every game but one and is averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds. (Coastal Carolina University Image)

Reggie Hill/Graduate Student/Coastal Carolina/Melbourne High School – The 6’7 wing from Melbourne garnered plenty of attention from schools, but decided to stay home at Eastern Florida State College after graduating.

Hill then spent his next season at Northwestern State and then his third and fourth at Midwestern State. Improving his statistics and skills each year, he caught the attention of Division I Coastal Carolina and signed with the program this past fall.

This season, Hill has started every game but one and is averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds.

While he had some great moments at EFSC and HU, he has truly found his groove this season with FDU. Parnell is averaging 12.5 points a game and three rebounds and has started every game this season. (Fairleigh Dickinson University Image)

Eric Parnell/Senior/Fairleigh Dickinson/Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy – Parnell stayed home at Eastern Florida State College after graduating from Holy Trinity. After one year with the Titans, Parnell signed with Hofstra University. While he had some great moments at EFSC and HU, he has truly found his groove this season with FDU.

Parnell is averaging 12.5 points a game and three rebounds and has started every game this season.

Franklin is now at Jacksonville State, where he has been the last two seasons. This season, Franklin is averaging six points and two rebounds a game. (Jacksonville State University Image)

Jamar Franklin/Senior/Jacksonville State/Rockledge High School – Franklin was a big-time guard at Rockledge all four seasons as a Raider. He signed with South Alabama out of high school but transferred to Georgia Southern after one season. Franklin is now at Jacksonville State, where he has been the last two seasons.

This season, Franklin is averaging six points and two rebounds a game.
