POLICE: Juvenile Struck by Multiple Vehicles in Melbourne, First Flight Airlifts Victim to Hospital

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A juvenile was struck by multiple vehicles while attempting to cross Sarno Road on Sunday afternoon, according to the Melbourne Police Department.
According to a Melbourne police spokesperson, at approximately 12:46 p.m. on February 23, officers responded to the intersection of Sarno Road and Garfield Street following reports of a traffic crash involving injuries.
Upon arrival, police discovered that a juvenile pedestrian had been hit by multiple vehicles.
Due to the severity of the incident, Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the juvenile to Sarno Plaza, where First Flight then airlifted the victim to a juvenile hospital in Orlando. Authorities report that the juvenile is currently in stable condition.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the juvenile was attempting to cross Sarno Road while vehicular traffic had a green light.
The first vehicle, traveling eastbound in the curb lane, struck the juvenile, propelling them into the adjacent lane. A second vehicle then hit the juvenile, causing them to be thrown into the grass on the south side of Sarno Road.
The Melbourne Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is actively investigating the crash. Officials urge anyone with relevant information to contact Investigator Officer Livingston at 321-288-8288.
