UPDATE: Police Identify Armed Suspect Who Died After Officer-Involved Shooting in Titusville

A police-involved shooting took place around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, February 7, in the vicinity of Robbins Avenue in Titusville.

TITUSVILLE POLICE: Tri-Marea Rayquan Charles, 26, of Titusville, was armed with a handgun and shots were fired.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A police-involved shooting took place around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, February 7, in the vicinity of Robbins Avenue in Titusville.

Titusville Police officers responded to the area shortly after 9 p.m. following reports of a suspicious incident.

Upon arrival, they encountered an armed individual, now identified as Tri-Marea Rayquan Charles, 26, of Titusville, wielding a handgun, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Charles sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

No Titusville officers were injured during the incident.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrived on the scene and launched an investigation into the shooting. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is also handling the forensic and evidence processing.

Further details will be provided upon the conclusion of FDLE’s investigation.

As is customary with all police shootings, the officer who exchanged gunfire with the suspect has been placed on paid administrative leave until the conclusion of the investigation.
