On March 10, 1783, the last naval battle of the American Revolution was fought off Cape Canaveral as Captains John Barry and John Green tried to deliver a shipload of Spanish silver to the Continental Congress. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA—On March 10, 1783, the last naval battle of the American Revolution was fought off of Cape Canaveral as Captains John Barry and John Green tried to deliver a shipload of Spanish silver to the Continental Congress.
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, the 242nd Annual Last Naval Battle of the Revolutionary War Celebration Commemoration will occur at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island, starting at 10 a.m.
The event will feature U.S. Navy support from NOTU at Port Canaveral, the Marine Corps League Color Guard, the Sea Cadet Color Guard, and a parade of flags from many SAR, DAR, and CAR units from several states.

There will be a wreath-laying ceremony to remember the fallen from the 1783 battle.
This very special celebration is sponsored and staged by the Brevard Sons of the American Revolution with assistance from the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center and MOAACC Good Deeds Foundation.

Wilson is especially proud of his chairing two fundraisers in support of pediatric cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in honor of Merritt Island resident Julie Spurlock that raised over $25,000.00.
He has been a partner, along with Orville Susong, for the past 25 years with the Friday Night Locker Room, a broadcasting team that covers and reports on a wide variety of local events that are of significance to the residents of the Space Coast and beyond. Their mission is to promote youth sports, support first responders and law enforcement personnel, and showcase community and charitable events that are produced by our nonprofit partners in central Florida.
The Friday Night Locker Room has awarded hundreds of sports achievement plaques to Brevard County student-athletes over the years. They have also awarded more than $18,000 in academic scholarships to Brevard County high school seniors.
