Eastern Florida State College Men’s Tennis Team Picks Up Third Straight Win on Sunday

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA —The Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis team scored its third straight win on Sunday morning, defeating Howard University.
The Titans, ranked No. 2 in the ITA Junior College rankings, defeated Howard University 6-1 at Titan Tennis Center.
Eastern Florida State College swept the three doubles matches to open with a 1-0 lead.
Alexandr Achour and Alberto Perez Mellado won the No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 victory, while Johan Mottlau and Konstantin Kukaras won 7-5, and Pablo Garcia Rodriguez and Tomas Kurz Cardozo won 6-2.
In singles matches, Alexandr Achour won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Perez won in three sets, winning the first set 6-3, but lost the second set 7-6(4), and Perez won the third set 6-3.
Salva Mulet won at No. 3 in straight sets 7-6, 6-3, and Pablo Garcia Rodriguez won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Tomas Kurz Cardozo won at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-1.
At No. 6 singles, Mottlau lost in a third set tiebreaker 10-6.
Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis team will return home on Friday, hosting the University of Findlay at 9:30 a.m.

The Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team fell to Howard University on Sunday morning at Titan Tennis Center.
The women’s team is now 1-2 after Sunday’s 7-0 loss.
The doubles matches were all close. Laura Yans and Elena Martinez Prado lost 7-5, Thais Mitlmeier and Maria Gento fell 6-4, and Leticia Orlandov and Nayara Alvarez Martin lost at No. 3 doubles.
Howard University won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis will play Northern Kentucky at home on Wednesday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m.
