Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey

Earlier today, I was honored to be recognized by Governor Ron DeSantis during his “State of the State” speech for my role in working to combat illegal immigration and its impacts on the state of Florida.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier today, I was honored to be recognized by Governor Ron DeSantis during his “State of the State” speech for my role in working to combat illegal immigration and its impacts on the state of Florida.

During his remarks before the members of the House and Senate, Governor DeSantis recognized myself and Florida Immigration Czar Larry Keefe for our leadership role in helping develop and promote Florida’s efforts to fight illegal immigration.

As Governor DeSantis discussed during his speech, Florida not only serves as a model for other states to follow in creating partnerships with federal agencies, but also passed new legislation that gives Florida law enforcement officers the tools they need to go after those that are illegally in our country and state.

I truly can’t thank Governor DeSantis enough for inviting me to sit in the gallery for today’s “State of the State” speech and also our Senate and House leadership and members for their role in creating legislation that continues to make sure that the State of Florida is one of the safest places in the country to call home.
