BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The Health First Pucks with Pro’s Florida Space Coast National Hockey League Alumni ProAm was a huge success recently at the Space Coast Iceplex near the master-planned community of Viera, Florida.

The event featured four teams with 12 NHL Alumni. Each team played three games at the Space Coast Iceplex to the delight of sponsors and fans. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Genesis House of Melbourne and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.

Genesis House provides shelter to mothers with children who are homeless and offers transitional living and emotional support to mothers who are attending school.

“We had an incredible time on and off the ice, all in support of Genesis House of Melbourne and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition,” said Todd Pokrywa, the philanthropic president of The Viera Company.

“My personal thanks to the NHL Alumni who joined us, including Mike Krushelnyski, Brad May, Stu Grimson, Stephane Matteau, Ric Seiling, Eric Nystrom M.S., Dennis Maruk, Grant Marshall, Brian Propp, Jason Dawe, Bryan Muir, and Steven Oleksy —as well as Canadian Football League great and National Football League Pro-Bowler Doug Flutie. Your presence and passion for the game made this event unforgettable,” said Pokrywa.

Flutie, inducted into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame in 2012, moved to Melbourne Beach when he was six and led his Hoover Middle School football team to two Brevard County Championships in the mid-1970s. The rest, as they say, is history.
