ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Orlando is one of two finalists vying to host the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2027 NFL season while the team’s home stadium undergoes extensive renovations. The other contender is Gainesville.

Earlier this week, Orange County approved a proposal to allocate approximately $10 million in tourist tax dollars to Florida Citrus Sports in an effort to bring the Jaguars to Orlando’s Camping World Stadium. Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan detailed how the funding would be used.

“We’re committing $10 million for a minimum of eight games in Orlando,” Hogan said in a interview with WFTV.

“If the Jaguars make the playoffs, we’ll add another $500,000 per playoff game, up to a cap of $2 million. So, if we host eight games and two playoff games, that’s a total investment of $11 million.”

Hogan believes Orlando has a strategic edge due to its lack of scheduling conflicts and its appeal as a tourist destination. Unlike other cities, Camping World Stadium does not have a regular college football tenant, freeing up dates for NFL games.

“There isn’t a college team playing Saturdays and an NFL team playing Sundays,” Hogan explained. “That lack of competition for game days is a big advantage.”

Renovations at Camping World Stadium are expected to be completed by July 2027, just in time for the NFL preseason.

“Hopefully, we’ll be ready to host a preseason game in late August,” Hogan said.

He also encouraged the local community to get involved and show their support.

“Now’s the time to get excited. Let’s be bold and confident—tweet, text, and reach out to the Jaguars. Let them know Orlando is ready to welcome them and celebrate an incredible season. We hope to have something to celebrate by the owners’ meeting in May.”
