BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — Merritt Island’s FIRST Robotics Team 801 Horsepower achieved another remarkable milestone this season, earning a coveted spot at the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston for the second consecutive year.

This marks only the fifth time since 2008 that the team has advanced to the prestigious global competition. Each year, only the top 10 percent of FIRST Robotics teams from around the world qualify for the championship.

This year’s event featured over 600 of the world’s most elite teams, making the competition fierce.

Team 801 proudly finished in the top half of the field, marking its highest placement at the World Championship since 2008. The team is already setting its sights on returning next season, hoping to surpass this achievement.
