Program gives dogs second chance with comfort of home environment rather than the stress of a shelter

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Care Center Adoption Ambassador program is seeking new volunteers to temporarily foster dogs in need, providing them a safe and loving home outside the shelter walls while they await adoption.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Care Center Adoption Ambassador program is seeking new volunteers to temporarily foster dogs in need, providing them with a safe and loving home outside the shelter walls while they await adoption.

The program is designed to give dogs a second chance by offering them the comfort of a home environment rather than the stress of a shelter.

Volunteers, known as Adoption Ambassadors, are responsible for housing the dogs, attending adoption events, and helping to find their ambassador a permanent home.

“This is an incredible opportunity for people who want to make a real difference in the life of a dog,” said a Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Care Center spokesperson.

“There’s no cost to you, the shelter fully covers all medical care and monthly preventatives.”

In addition to logistical support, ambassadors receive guidance through monthly check-ins with the foster coordinators. It’s a hands-on experience that not only saves lives but creates a rewarding connection between the volunteer and their foster pet.

The benefits are clear: more individualized attention for each dog, more exposure to potential adopters, and less strain on the shelter’s limited space and resources. And best of all? Cons: None.

For animal lovers who want to participate in a meaningful way, the Adoption Ambassador program offers an opportunity to say, “I woof you,” with action.

Interested community members are encouraged to email fostercoordinator@bcso.us or call 321-633-2024 for more information or to begin the application process.

In a heartfelt appeal, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Animal Care Center Adoption Ambassador program is seeking new volunteers to temporarily foster dogs in need, providing them a safe and loving home outside the shelter walls while they await adoption.
