City of Palm Bay Public Hearing on Ordinance For Postemployment Standards of Municipal Employees

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — The City Council of Palm Bay will hold a public hearing on Thursday, August 7, at 6 p.m. at City Hall, located at 120 Malabar Road SE, to consider the adoption of Ordinance 2025-27.
The proposed legislation aims to amend the City’s Code of Ordinances by establishing new postemployment restrictions and standards of conduct for former municipal employees.
Ordinance 2025-27 seeks to amend Title III, Administration, Chapter 34, Human Resources, Subchapter “General Provisions” of the Palm Bay Code.
If enacted, the ordinance will outline limitations and ethical standards that apply to individuals after their service with the City concludes. These regulations are intended to promote transparency and public trust while preventing potential conflicts of interest.

In addition to enacting postemployment standards, the ordinance includes provisions for the repeal of any conflicting ordinances, guidance for inclusion within the existing City Code, a severability clause, and the designation of an effective date.
Residents and stakeholders are invited to attend the hearing and offer input on the proposed ordinance. Copies of the draft may be reviewed weekdays from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Office of the City Clerk in City Hall.
Individuals who wish to appeal any decision made at this meeting must ensure a verbatim record of the proceedings is created, including all testimony and evidence presented, in accordance with Section 286.0105 of the Florida Statutes.
