Brevard Public Schools to Launch New Electricity Program with Ribbon-Cutting at Heritage High Aug. 27

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — Brevard Public Schools is set to celebrate the launch of its new Electricity Program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, August 27, from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at Heritage High School in Palm Bay.
Heritage High School is located at 2351 Malabar Road in Palm Bay. The upcoming event marks a significant step forward in workforce development and career readiness for Brevard students.
The event will feature remarks from school and district leaders, a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and tours of the newly equipped learning space where guests can meet students and instructors.
The program is designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in the electrical field through a hands-on curriculum. Coursework covers residential and commercial wiring, circuits, blueprint reading, safety protocols, and the use of meters and test equipment.
More advanced studies will introduce motors and motor controls, PLC fundamentals, renewable and solar energy, and troubleshooting techniques.
Students will also be able to earn industry-recognized certifications, including the NCCER Core credential, NCCER Electrical Level One, with opportunities to advance further, and the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Credential, a highly valued certification in the field.
Partnerships with local industry are also in development. The program is exploring pre-apprenticeship pathways and work-based learning opportunities, including a collaboration with Boys Electric to provide internships and career connections for students.
