WATCH: Heritage High School Unveil New Electricity Program With Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools is proud to announce the launch of a new Electricity Program at Heritage High School, aimed at preparing students for high-demand careers in the electrical and energy sectors.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, August 27, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Heritage High School to celebrate the opening of this innovative Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiative.

The program provides hands-on training in residential and commercial wiring, circuit design, safety protocols, blueprint reading, and the use of meters and test equipment.

Advanced instruction will introduce students to motors and motor controls, PLC fundamentals, renewable/solar energy concepts, and troubleshooting techniques.

Students will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, including:

■ NCCER Core: Foundational safety, tools, and employability skills
■ NCCER Electrical Level One: With potential to advance through Levels Two, Three, and Four
■ OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Credential: Highly valued by employers

The program also aims to integrate work-based learning, pre-apprenticeship alignment, and local industry partnerships, including a collaboration with Boys Electric, to connect students with internships and real-world job pathways.

“The launch of the Electricity Program at Heritage High School reflects our commitment to preparing students for real-world success,” said Dr. Mark Rendell, Superintendent of Brevard Public Schools.

“By combining rigorous instruction with industry-recognized certifications and hands-on experience, we’re opening doors to high-wage, high-demand careers and helping build the future workforce of Brevard County.”

Community leaders, industry partners, and members of the media are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony, where they can tour the new facilities, meet instructors and students, and learn more about the program’s impact on workforce development.
