BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Merritt Island Mustangs (0-1) return home looking to bounce back after a tough season-opening loss to the three-time defending state champion Cocoa Tigers, 30-24 in overtime.
Despite the heartbreak, the Mustangs showed grit and proved they can compete with one of Florida’s best.
Meanwhile, the Melbourne Bulldogs (1-0) enter the matchup with plenty of momentum after a dominant 58-7 win over Cocoa Beach last week. Melbourne’s offense looked explosive, and their defense set the tone early, leaving no doubt about their season debut.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with full coverage on Space Coast Daily TV.
Fans should keep an eye on the weather, as heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected before kickoff, with the threat of storms lingering between 8 and 9 p.m.
