Construction Lane Closures Scheduled Across Melbourne During September, Plan Alternate Routes

The City of Melbourne Public Works and Utilities Department has announced a series of temporary lane closures during the first week of September to allow for critical infrastructure improvements, including sidewalk replacements and sewer manhole repairs.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The City of Melbourne Public Works and Utilities Department has announced a series of temporary lane closures during the first week of September to allow for critical infrastructure improvements, including sidewalk replacements and sewer manhole repairs.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and expect minor delays in the affected areas.

Monday, September 1

Crews will close the outside westbound lane of Sarno Road between Alexia Street and Peel Street. The closure is scheduled to last through Friday, September 5, with work occurring daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The closure is necessary to facilitate the replacement of existing sidewalks along this stretch. Traffic will be directed around the work zone in accordance with FDOT Index #102-613. For additional information regarding this project, residents may contact Matt Carter at 321-432-4881.

On Tuesday, September 3, the westbound left-turn lane of University Boulevard at the intersection with Lipscomb Street will be temporarily closed while crews carry out sewer manhole repairs. This closure will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thursday, September 4

Additionally, the city will conduct sewer manhole repairs, necessitating the closure of the westbound lane of East New Haven Avenue between Livingston Street and Waverly Place. The closure will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
