Space Coast Hackathon 2025 Registration Closing Soon – Dates, Location & More
By Space Coast Daily // September 6, 2025
The 22nd to 24th of August 2025 will mark the return of the Space Coast Hackathon – a software and hardware tech sprint that creates bold solutions to real-world problems. The event invites coders, engineers, tinkerers, designers, and entrepreneurs to participate, build, and connect for free during this high-energy two-day event.
The Returning Two-Day Hard Tech and Software Hackathon
Last year, the double-track model for hard tech and software was introduced – now, it’s back again.
The event starts on a Friday afternoon and continues until Sunday evening. It will offer several workshops, support from industry experts, and more. Registration is completely free for anyone who wants to partake and help work on solutions for real challenges facing the Space Coast.
There will be many different themes, such as aerospace, medical tech, energy & sustainability, AI, smart cities, and much more. The event is held at Groundswell Startups’ headquarters on Irwin Street in Melbourne, Florida.
Participants get to choose their problem to work on and what technologies they want to use to solve it. It’s a space where technologies can be connected to unexpected problems, bringing forth creative solutions and projects quickly and collaboratively.
Today, creators can take advantage of many prebuilt tools and systems to faster build new solutions to important problems. AWS cloud solutions can be implemented without much hassle to improve an existing solution, and implementing existing blockchain technology to secure a system will be much faster than starting from scratch.
Existing solutions like blockchain technology have already been used to secure and improve numerous different systems and industries, including casinos with crypto that provide a safer and more accessible gaming experience for players, tracking supply chains through immutable records, and making innovative use of smart contracts.
Using generative AI is another example of applying an existing technology that cuts short the building time and lets participants create something new in a matter of days.
The Details: What the Weekend Will Look Like
The Space Coast’s most important hackathon kicks off on August 22 with a check-in at 5 PM and a mixer. Participants call it an early night, and the event starts again the next day, August 23, at 8 AM.
After going through the rules and locking themes, the real building begins at 10 AM. Throughout the day, there are three different workshops, each with a unique focus and valuable information to be implemented while building.
The next day, August 24, the project check-in starts at 8 AM. The building continues, and there’s also a workshop to participate in during the day. At 3:30, presentations start. The evening rounds off with an awards ceremony at 5 PM.
Why Participate?
This event will focus on applicable solutions and is both productive, inspiring, and insightful. Ruchir Gupta, Industrial Designer at Groundswell Startups, says it best:
“This Hackathon is about creating space for builders of all kinds, coders, designers, entrepreneurs, and engineers, to learn from each other and bring bold ideas to life.”
It’s a great place to connect entrepreneurs, investors, and founders with developers, engineers, and tinkerers.
The Hackathon 2025 is sponsored by Groundswell Startups, a non-profit prototyping lab on Florida’s Space Coast, and AWS, an Amazon subsidiary focusing on providing cloud computing platforms and services.
The Space Coast Hackathon is the most exciting tech event of the year, connecting academia, the tech industry, and the government in ways that foster real solutions. The event is quickly closing in, and registrations will close soon, so those who want to participate should take action quickly.
