Cold Front to Bring Cooler Weather to Brevard County This Weekend: Here’s When It Arrives

Overnight lows will fall into the low to mid-60s

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Space Coast residents can finally look forward to a taste of fall. A cold front is expected to move through Brevard County late Friday, bringing cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and the most comfortable weather locals have felt in months, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
After a steamy start to October, meteorologists say the front will bring a refreshing change just in time for the weekend.
“A cold front passes Central Florida late week, bringing a more fall-like airmass late this weekend and into early next week,” the National Weather Service in Melbourne said Thursday.
Rain and thunderstorms are likely Friday afternoon and evening — with rain chances around 70 percent — ahead of the approaching front. By late Friday night, winds will shift, the humidity will drop, and the air will start to feel noticeably cooler.
■ Friday: High near 82°F, humid, with scattered storms.
■ Saturday: High around 82°F, low near 68°F with much drier air.
■ Sunday: High near 82°F, low near 63°F inland and upper 60s along the coast.
Meteorologists say residents will really notice the difference Saturday morning, when dew points drop into the low 60s, signaling a crisp, fall-like feel that could last through early next week.
While this isn’t the kind of cold front that calls for heavy jackets, it’s still a refreshing break for Florida.
Overnight lows will fall into the low to mid-60s in inland areas like Viera, Palm Bay, and Titusville, while Cocoa Beach and other coastal communities will stay in the upper 60s.
Daytime highs will remain mild, in the low to mid-80s, but the biggest difference will be the humidity — or lack of it.
“It’s not cold by northern standards,” said NWS forecasters, “but it will feel dramatically more comfortable after weeks of heat and humidity.”
Friday will bring the best chance for rain and a few thunderstorms. Once the front moves south of the area, a dry, post-frontal airmass will spread across the Space Coast, greatly reducing rain chances through the first half of next week.
“A dry post-frontal airmass spreads across Central Florida on Sunday with no mentionable rain chances through early next week,” the NWS said.
Beach and Boating Conditions
The cold front will also stir up rough surf and strong rip currents along Brevard County beaches through Friday. Boaters should take caution, as Small Craft Advisories are in effect for the local Atlantic waters.
Marine conditions are expected to gradually improve by late Saturday as winds shift offshore and seas subside.
Forecasters say this early October front is a short preview of the season ahead. Temperatures are expected to warm slightly by midweek, returning to the mid-to-upper 80s, though humidity will remain lower than the oppressive levels seen earlier this month.
For now, Brevard County can look forward to clear skies, cool mornings, and a pleasant weekend ahead — the kind of weather that reminds locals that, yes, fall really does arrive in Florida.
