BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The spirit of friendship and inclusion will take center stage at the 8th Annual Be A Buddy 5K and Family Health and Fitness Expo, set for Saturday, October 18, at the Field of Dreams in West Melbourne.
Organized by The Parker Foundation for Autism and Child Development, the event aims to raise awareness and promote kindness through a morning of fitness, fun, and community engagement.
The day will begin with an 8 a.m. 5K race, followed by a free kids’ run at 9 a.m. and an awards ceremony at 9:15 a.m.
Participants can enjoy the Family Health and Fitness Expo from 9 to 11 a.m., featuring adaptive sports, games, local nonprofit booths, sponsor vendors, and a trick-or-treat area for children.
Runners will receive a race T-shirt with the 2025 Buddy design and a finisher medal, with team awards and prizes for the top three male and female participants in each age division, as well as overall winners.
Music, entertainment, and community spirit will fill the morning, celebrating the theme of being a buddy and standing united against bullying.
In addition to the race and expo, the event promotes sustainability through a partnership with GotSneakers?, which will collect used sneaker donations for recycling.
Organizers invite families, athletes, and supporters of all ages to register, form teams, and join in this positive community tradition.
