BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement in effect until 10 p.m. ET for Merritt Island, Rockledge, and Cocoa due to developing weather conditions across central Brevard County.
At this time, forecasters are monitoring strong thunderstorms moving through the area, capable of producing gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning. Motorists and residents should be alert for rapidly changing weather conditions, particularly in low-lying or poorly drained areas where water may begin to accumulate.
While these storms are not currently severe, they could intensify as they move across the region. The National Weather Service advises residents to seek shelter indoors if thunder is heard and to avoid driving through flooded roadways.
Weather officials will continue to track the situation closely and issue additional updates if conditions worsen.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local media outlets and weather alerts for the latest information.
