Titusville Fire Department Issues Cold Weather Safety Reminder to Residents

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As colder temperatures and early morning lows near 40–45°F move through the area, the Titusville Fire Department is reminding residents to take extra precautions to stay safe and warm, including preventing fires, carbon monoxide exposure, and other cold-weather hazards associated with heating homes.

Fire officials urge residents who use space heaters to keep them at least three feet away from anything that can burn, including furniture, curtains, and bedding. They also emphasize that ovens and stovetops should never be used as sources of heat, as doing so can pose serious fire and carbon monoxide risks.

The department encourages households to check that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are working correctly, as these devices provide critical early warnings in emergencies.

Residents are also reminded to bring pets and sensitive plants indoors during cold conditions and to check on neighbors who may need assistance.
