BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Fire departments across Brevard County are coming together to support the family of a former Titusville firefighter after learning his young daughter is battling cancer.
Jeff Trafton, who served with the Titusville Fire Department for several years before transferring to Satellite Beach Fire to be closer to home, is now facing an unimaginable challenge as his daughter, Lorelai, just two and a half years old, undergoes treatment.
The Titusville Fire Department shared the family’s story this week, asking the community to consider supporting the Trafton family during a time marked by emotional, physical, and financial strain.
Fire officials noted that the department has a long standing commitment to supporting children with cancer through its involvement with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization it has partnered with for more than a decade to help fund research aimed at finding cures for childhood cancers.
Friends and fellow firefighters emphasized that the journey ahead will be difficult, with mounting medical bills, time away from work, and travel required for treatments. A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help ease the financial burden so the family can focus on caring for their daughter.
For those who prefer not to donate online, community members are also able to make contributions directly at the Satellite Beach Fire Department or through the Satellite Beach Volunteer Fire Department, a registered nonprofit organization. Officials confirmed that all donations collected through these avenues will go directly to the Trafton family.
Fire department leaders and colleagues continue to ask for thoughts, prayers, and support for the family, stressing the importance of standing together during times of crisis. They say the response from the fire service community and the public serves as a reminder that the Trafton family is not facing this fight alone.
