BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — A death investigation is ongoing in Palm Bay after detectives worked a single case across two locations over the past two days, culminating in an arrest and the discovery of human remains in a wooded area.

According to the Palm Bay Police Department, the investigation stems from information received in connection with a missing person case.

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, detectives, assisted by the department’s SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Turk Road.

During the search, officers located George Mancilla, 51, inside the home.

Mancilla was taken into custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation. Police said the paraphernalia was found inside the residence while the warrant was being served.

As the investigation continued, detectives followed up on additional information related to the same missing person case. That lead brought them to a wooded area near Santo Domingo Avenue.

With assistance from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the agency’s cadaver dog unit, investigators conducted a search of the area.

During that search, human remains were located. Authorities said the remains have not yet been identified, and investigators are working to determine who the individual is and how they died.

Police acknowledged the heavy law enforcement presence in both neighborhoods, noting that residents may have seen officers, specialized units, and search activity over multiple days.

Officials said information will be released only after it is confirmed and will not compromise the investigation.

The department emphasized that there is no known threat to public safety at this time. Officials stated that if any such threat arose, the public would be notified immediately.

The Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office will work in collaboration with Palm Bay detectives to determine the identity of the deceased and establish the cause of death.

Investigators cautioned that, at this stage, they cannot confirm whether the remains are directly linked to the missing-person investigation that initiated the case.

The investigation remains active, and authorities say additional details will be released as they become available.
