BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department has received multiple reports of a phone scam involving caller ID spoofing.

Citizens have reported receiving phone calls from a number that appears to be a Police Administrative Line. When they answer, the caller demands banking information or payment. If the person refuses, the caller falsely claims to be a member of the Palm Bay Police Department and threatens arrest if the requested information is not provided.

A Palm Bay Police Department spokesperson said officials will never call you to demand money, gift cards, or banking information.

While PBPD does make legitimate phone calls to contact individuals and follow up on investigations, we will not request financial information or demand payments.

If you ever need to question the legitimacy of a call claiming to be from the agency:

• Hang up immediately.
• Call 321-952-3456 directly to reach out.
• Do not call back the number that contacted you.
