BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Popular chicken finger restaurant Raising Cane’s is preparing to open its first location in Brevard County, marking a new chapter in the brand’s expansion across Florida and the southeastern United States.
The fast-casual chain, known for its simple menu focused on hand-cut chicken fingers, Texas toast, crinkle-cut fries and signature Cane’s Sauce, has filed permits for a Melbourne-area site near Viera that would introduce the restaurant to the Space Coast community.
Founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996, Raising Cane’s has grown from a single restaurant near Louisiana State University into a nationwide chain with hundreds of locations across more than 40 states.
The company’s expansion strategy has seen brisk growth in Florida in recent years, with multiple restaurants already operating in Central and South Florida and additional sites planned.
Brevard County residents and area business watchers have shared early reports and social media posts suggesting that the planned Brevard County restaurant will occupy a former Bob Evans building in Melbourne, bringing the beloved chicken-finger chain to an area that has long awaited its arrival.
The proposal, submitted as a major site plan, does not specify when construction would begin. If it receives final approval, the development would introduce Brevard County’s first Raising Cane’s restaurant.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the permit filings and community interest signal that Raising Cane’s could serve its first customers in the Viera area in the coming months.
The new restaurant is expected to offer dine-in service along with drive-thru access, a format consistent with other recent Cane’s openings.
Raising Cane’s has emphasized its focus on quality, limited-menu offerings and community engagement as it grows, a strategy that has helped fuel its popularity with “Caniacs” — passionate fans of the brand. The arrival of a Brevard County location adds to the chain’s footprint in Florida and reflects broader national trends in quick-service restaurant expansion.
As preparations continue, local officials and restaurant developers are expected to provide further details about the project and its anticipated impact on the region’s dining landscape. Raising Cane’s fans in Brevard County are watching closely for announcements about an official grand opening.
