Melbourne Police credited quick action by officers and timely information from the public for the successful outcome of a recent burglary investigation that resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police credited quick action by officers and timely information from the public for the successful outcome of a recent burglary investigation that resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics.

Officer McGaha and Officer Renken responded to a report of individuals attempting to break into a residence after a homeowner contacted 911 and activated a security alarm.

The suspects fled the area before officers arrived, but a witness provided critical information that helped officers identify a suspect vehicle leaving the scene.

Using that information, officers located the vehicle and took three suspects into custody.

During the investigation, officers observed a large quantity of narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle, leading to additional investigative actions.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges are possible.

Officials noted the case as an example of the effectiveness of cooperation between citizens and law enforcement, emphasizing that the prompt actions of the homeowner and witness played a key role.
