Malabar firefighters train with the new LUCAS mechanical CPR device, which was donated by Health First, learning how it delivers automated chest compressions during emergencies.

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA – The Titusville Fire Department has announced that its scheduled Hands Only CPR class has been canceled due to low enrollment, but officials say another opportunity to participate is just weeks away.

The free class, offered in partnership with the American Heart Association, was intended to teach residents how to perform hands only CPR, a potentially life saving skill that can be used in emergencies.

According to the department, there was not enough interest to hold the originally scheduled session.

Fire officials confirmed that the next class will take place on Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

While the course is not a certification class, participants will learn how to properly administer CPR and respond in critical situations.

The department encourages community members to take advantage of the upcoming session and learn skills that could help save a life.

Those interested in attending can contact Kerri Lubecki at kerri.lubeski@titusville.com or call 321-567-3804 for additional information.
