BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – A Palm Bay mother who is already facing six felony child abuse charges from September was arrested again Friday after a young child nearly drowned in a backyard pool, according to police.

Officers with the Palm Bay Police Department responded Feb. 20 to a home in the Bayside Lakes area following reports of a child found unresponsive in a swimming pool.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Laura Forczyk was taken into custody and charged with aggravated child abuse, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

When officers arrived, the child was described as unresponsive and struggling to breathe.

Police reported the child had a rapid pulse and fluttering eyelids, with eyes appearing to roll back — symptoms consistent with a near-drowning event.

Authorities have not released additional details about the child’s current condition.

The arrest comes as Forczyk continues to face six felony child abuse charges stemming from a separate incident in September.

The latest charge adds to her ongoing legal troubles as the case moves forward through the court system.
