BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — The Viera High School Girls Varsity Wrestling Team continued its reign atop the Cape Coast Conference on Friday night, capturing its third consecutive conference championship with a commanding performance at the Cape Coast Conference Championships held at Bayside High School.
The Hawks left little doubt about their dominance, piling up 235 team points—nearly 80 more than runner-up Cocoa Beach—to secure another banner and cement their status as the conference’s premier girls wrestling program.
Viera produced an impressive 13 placewinners across 14 weight classes, including eight individual conference champions, showcasing both depth and star power throughout the lineup.
Leading the charge were conference champions Zahar Zouaki (105 lbs), Elizabeth Pinto (110), Catalina Kenney (115), Michelle Amyot (120), Ryauna Nepomuceno (125), Olivia Gapud (130), Reece Townsend (135), and Savanah Nazario-Darnell (170).

Each wrestler navigated a competitive bracket to stand atop the podium, helping Viera steadily separate itself from the field as the tournament progressed.
Viera’s success extended beyond its champions, with strong finishes up and down the weight classes reinforcing the team’s depth. Austyn Montgomery (140 lbs) and Keliana Velazquez (155) each earned second-place finishes, while Bella Barry (100) and Lillian Straessley (145) took third.
Kendra Drescher (190) rounded out the scoring effort with a fourth-place finish, contributing valuable team points in a tightly contested heavyweight division.
The Hawks’ balanced attack proved too much for the rest of the conference. Cocoa Beach finished second with 155.5 points, followed by Space Coast (70.0) and host Bayside (60.0). Rockledge, Titusville, Melbourne, and Merritt Island rounded out the middle of the standings, while Palm Bay, Astronaut, Satellite, Eau Gallie, and Cocoa completed the 13-team field.
With three straight Cape Coast Conference titles now in hand, Viera’s girls wrestling program continues to set the standard locally, blending experienced champions with emerging contributors. As postseason competition approaches, Friday night’s performance sent a clear message: the Hawks are not just defending champions—they’re still the team to beat.
