BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Bayside Bears girls basketball team defeated Bartram Trail 50-43 Thursday afternoon to advance to the Class 6A state championship.
A Team of Destiny
The Bayside girls basketball team has been impressive in the playoffs, and you can thank its early-season losses for that.
No team likes to lose, but when you lose against some of the top teams in the state — or even the nation — you can gauge how talented your team truly is.
That is exactly what head coach Johnathan Frazier had in mind after his team fell in the second round of the playoffs in 2025.
After starting the season 6-1, the Bears won only four of their next 11 games.
Since losing to North Florida Educational Institute on Jan. 9, the Bears have been on the hunt.
Currently on a 12-game winning streak, they will be looking for lucky No. 13 to cap off their season with a Class 6A state championship.

Bayside actually trailed at halftime and entering the fourth quarter against Bartram Trail, but a huge final quarter gave the Bears the edge as they won the state semifinal 50-43.
With five seniors on this Bayside squad, nothing would be sweeter than heading back home from Jacksonville with a state championship trophy.
Bayside will take the court Saturday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m. at The CSI Companies Arena at the University of North Florida.
