BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization partnered with the West Melbourne Police Department for the final Brake for Break: Pedestrian Safety Pop-Up along the U.S. 192 corridor.

This activation looked a little different, as they focused on newly installed Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons, working alongside officers to educate motorists on how to properly respond to this new signal and yield for pedestrians.

Officers also conducted enforcement while our team engaged with the community and helped spread awareness.

SCTPO issued a special thank you to City of West Melbourne Mayor Andrea Young, Councilwoman Diana Adams, and Councilman Pat Bentley for joining in support, along with their partners at the FDOT Central Florida Brevard Operations Office.

A representative closed in saying, “We appreciate everyone who helped make this Break for Break series a success — let’s keep the momentum going and make safety a priority this Spring Break and beyond!”
