Community to Walk Around Clearlake for Global Water Awareness Event March 18 in Cocoa

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Residents across Brevard County will have an opportunity to step outside, get active, and raise awareness about the global water crisis during an upcoming community event at Eastern Florida State College.

The college will host the Cocoa Walk for Water on March 18, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Gen. George F. Schlatter Veterans Memorial Amphitheater on the Cocoa campus.

The event invites community members, students, and families to gather for an educational experience focused on water conservation and protecting one of the planet’s most essential resources.

Participants will take part in a walk partially around Clearlake while learning about the challenges many communities around the world face in accessing safe drinking water. Organizers say the event is designed to help attendees better understand the global impact of water scarcity while encouraging local action to protect natural resources.

According to event organizers, approximately 2,300 people around the world die each day due to a lack of safe drinking water. Pollution and overconsumption are also contributing to environmental damage that affects ecosystems and wildlife.

The event will feature educational activities and opportunities to engage with nonprofit organizations working on water conservation and environmental protection. Food will also be available for attendees as part of the community gathering.

As part of the experience, participants will carry water buckets during portions of the walk to simulate the daily challenge many people face in parts of the world where clean water must be transported long distances.

Organizers hope the event will inspire greater awareness and action within the community as residents learn how everyday choices can help protect water resources for future generations.
