We have a launch! They went right at the top of the window…no TFRs issued. 🤯 Very LOUD and very fast! Not the best video, but at least I captured it. 💪🚀🇺🇸 https://t.co/x1R3mHJPgG pic.twitter.com/NjgWjqkurg

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The U.S. Department of Defense carried out what appeared to be another successful test flight of its “Dark Eagle” Long Range Hypersonic Weapon on March 26, marking a continued advance in the nation’s next-generation strike capabilities.
The LRHW is a joint development effort between the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, designed to deliver a highly maneuverable, hypersonic glide vehicle capable of traveling at speeds greater than Mach 5.
While officials have not confirmed which military branch led Thursday’s test, the launch represents a key milestone in the program’s ongoing progress.
Defense leaders have emphasized the importance of hypersonic weapons as global competitors accelerate their own development of similar systems.
The Dark Eagle platform is intended to provide the United States with a rapid-response, long-range strike option that can penetrate advanced defense systems.
Details surrounding the test, including the launch location and specific performance data, were not immediately released. However, the apparent success of the flight underscores continued momentum in the Pentagon’s push to field operational hypersonic capabilities in the near future.
The LRHW program remains a central component of broader efforts to modernize the U.S. military’s strategic deterrence and maintain technological superiority on the global stage.
