BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Titusville, Port St. John, and Mims and will remain in effect until 6 p.m. EDT Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, strong thunderstorms moving through northern Brevard County may bring gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning to the area.

Residents could also experience brief downpours that reduce visibility and cause minor flooding on roadways.

The weather statement is considered a lower-level alert but indicates that hazardous weather conditions are possible as storms move through the region during the late afternoon.

Officials advise residents to seek shelter indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas, and use caution while driving due to slick roads and reduced visibility.

The storms are expected to gradually move out of the area later this evening as conditions improve.
