BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Elaine Margaret Kerr, age 66, of Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Montgomery, New York, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, with her devoted husband of 39 years, Jerry, by her side after a courageous eight-week battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on June 19, 1960, in Middletown, New York, Elaine graduated from Pine Bush High School in 1978 before earning her associate degree from Orange County Community College. It was there, in 1980, that she met the love of her life, Jerry, beginning a beautiful journey together that would span nearly four decades of marriage.
Elaine built a career as a medical receptionist and surgical scheduler, where her compassion and attention to detail touched the lives of countless patients and coworkers. Yet, of all the titles she held throughout her life, the ones she treasured most were “Mom” and “Nana.”
She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel loved and cared for. Elaine instinctively knew how to brighten someone’s day, often recognizing what others needed before they did themselves. Her gentle heart, generous spirit, and unwavering kindness made everyone around her feel special.
Elaine found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—a quiet morning with her first cup of coffee, relaxing by the pool on warm Florida afternoons, traveling with Jerry, taking cruises, bowling, and embracing the adventures retirement offered. Above all else, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
Her three grandchildren were the light of her life. Elaine adored every moment she spent with Madelyn, Ethan, and baby Lillian, proudly embracing her role as “Nana.” Her unconditional love, warm hugs, and constant encouragement will remain with them always.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; her son, Kevin Kerr of Brooklyn, New York; her daughter, Andrea McKindles, and her husband, Derek, of Poughkeepsie, New York; and her beloved grandchildren, Madelyn (7), Ethan (5), and Lillian (3 months).
She is also survived by her brother, Michael Dino, and his wife, Monica, of Middletown, New York; her nephews, Christopher Dino and Matthew Dino and his wife, Jillian, along with their three children; her sister, Audrey Guardino, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, and Audrey’s daughter, Alyssa Guardino; her niece and nephew, Ashley and Blake Post; and her niece, Carol Rosbozom, her husband, Scott, and their daughter, Emma Rosbozom.
Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Dino, and her sister-in-law, Karin Dino.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Elaine’s life on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at DiDonato’s Funeral Home in Marlboro, New York. A private burial will take place on Thursday, August 6.
Elaine’s family will forever remember her for her unwavering love, selfless heart, and the countless ways she made every person she encountered feel important. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy will continue through the family she cherished so deeply and the many lives she touched with her grace, compassion, and quiet strength.
The Kerr family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Elaine by spending time with those you love, extending kindness to others, and embracing the simple moments that make life so precious.
