BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College baseball team ended its regular season on a high note, extending its win streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of St. Petersburg College on Saturday.
The Titans finished the season with a 21-29 overall record and 14-19 mark in the Citrus Conference, securing 4-1 and 8-5 victories in the final games.
In Game 1, sophomore Parker Trowbridge delivered a dominant performance, pitching a complete-game one-hitter while striking out eight batters. After allowing an early run, Trowbridge settled in and retired 17 consecutive hitters to keep the Titans within reach.
Offensively, the Titans broke through in the sixth inning. Steel Mientkiewicz and Chris Carroll reached base before Jackson Wargo drove in a run with a single.
Andrew Prieto followed with a clutch two-run double off the bench, giving Eastern Florida a 4-1 lead they would not relinquish. Jake Richardson and Ray Yero each contributed two hits in the win.
Game 2 featured late-game drama as the Titans rallied for an 8-5 victory. Ray Yero sparked the offense early, tripling and scoring in the first inning, while Andrew Prieto added another RBI to keep the Titans within striking distance.
Starting pitcher Couper Gatch turned in a strong outing, striking out 11 batters over 6 2/3 innings. After St. Petersburg tied the game late, the Titans responded in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Chris Carroll led off with a double, and Omir Santos followed with a single and stolen base to set up Shane Thomas, who delivered a key RBI hit.
Additional runs in the inning extended the lead, sealing the victory.
Breylynn Courtney closed out the game with a strikeout, preserving the win and completing the sweep.
With the pair of victories, Eastern Florida State College caps off the regular season with momentum, finishing strong in conference play.
