BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County residents can expect scattered showers and a few thunderstorms to develop across Central Florida this afternoon, with activity building inland before drifting toward the Space Coast later in the day, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Forecasters say storms are expected to form along the sea breeze collision zone—where opposing winds meet and help trigger storm development—primarily west of Interstate 95.

As the evening progresses, this activity will gradually push east-southeast toward coastal communities, including Melbourne, Titusville, and surrounding areas.

The main threats associated with today’s storms include frequent lightning and gusty winds. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, isolated storms could also produce small hail.

Conditions are expected to diminish later tonight as storms move offshore and weaken.

Residents to are urged to remain weather aware, especially during the late afternoon and early evening hours when storm coverage is expected to be highest.
