BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA — A Friday afternoon fire at The Tiny Turtle in Cocoa Beach also caused damage to multiple businesses along Minutemen Causeway, sending thick smoke into the sky and prompting a swift response from local firefighters.
The blaze broke out around 3 p.m. at the longtime restaurant in the heart of downtown Cocoa Beach.
No injuries were reported.
According to restaurant owner Kelly Lieneke, the emergency unfolded quickly after her husband noticed signs of trouble outside the building.
The Cocoa Beach Fire Department responded within minutes and worked to contain the flames before they could spread further.
The most significant damage was to the restaurant’s outdoor tiki hut structures.
The fire extended beyond the restaurant and affected two neighboring businesses — Junk Food Bakery and Hair Biz for Men — and both businesses indicated that the buildings were unsafe to enter or occupy due to fire-related damage.
Fire department investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
