My Review of Florida Medicare Broker
By Space Coast Daily // May 1, 2026
I am turning 65, and as a result will be starting Medicare soon. So, I decided to embark on my journey by looking for a local Medicare broker near where I live in Winter Garden, Florida. I came across a website for a local broker that calls himself “Florida Medicare Broker”.
After looking over his website and watching some of the videos on the agency’s YouTube Channel. I decided to give them a call.
Well, there was no answer.
However, to my surprise David Walls called back within an hour. He explained that he was working with a customer and apologized for not getting back to me sooner. Not only was this acceptable, but completely understandable.
I explained to him my situation, that I was turning 65 soon, and was still planning to work. I wasn’t sure if Medicare made sense for me, but I was investigating my options. After about a 15-minute phone call, he suggested that we meet up. At this point I was dreading the idea of having to drive to his location in Dunnellon, but to my surprise again, he told me to “save the gas money”, and that he would drive to my house. Even though I lived over an hour drive from where he resided in Citrus Springs, Florida, he would drive to my house in Winter Garden.
Before the phone conversation was over, David did say something to me that I hadn’t heard in over years; “You have homework.”
The homework he assigned me was to talk to my HR representative at my place of work. He wanted me to find out what my options were with my employer insurance. He wanted me to do this, to make sure it even made sense to start my Medicare insurance, and to compare and contrast the options.
Well, this just made sense and wasn’t something I had even considered.
At this point, I was already optimistic about our meeting.
A few days go by, and at 1:00pm sharp, David is knocking on my door. We spent the first 20 minutes talking about how we both grew up in Florida and then got down to business. I can honestly tell you that I have never had such a complicated subject explained in such a simple and entertaining way in my entire life. He juxtaposed my current insurance with my preferred Medicare options, explained the costs in detail, and even took the time to explain my wife’s insurance options (she will not be eligible for Medicare for another 4 years.) He does also offer insurance in the under 65 health insurance market. So, it was nice to be able to use the same broker for both my wife and myself.
Overall, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Unlike the stereotypical insurance salesman, he was not a high-pressure sales tactic individual. Instead, he seemed to use more of an educational approach.
He left me with his business card which has his email address on it, and his cell phone. Which he told me I can call, text or email “whenever I need him.” I haven’t had any need yet, but I plan to, should the situation arise.
I did happen to notice on his business card that he offers other products as well. Aside from Medicare and Obamacare, Life Insurance was included in his mix. Although I personally don’t have a need for any life insurance, I did find one of the life insurance products particularly interesting – Bitcoin Life Insurance. I didn’t even realize that was a thing.
He did send me a pleasant thank you letter after meeting with him. In which he did ask for referrals and mentioned I could get a gift card in return. So, if you decide to take my recommendation and give David Walls a call for your Medicare solutions, tell him I sent you.
