Outstanding Brevard County Prep Baseball and Softball Players Play in FACA All-Star Classic

FACA All-Star Classic Taking Place at Stetson University

While no Brevard County baseball or softball teams made a run for a state title, several players were invited to compete in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star game. Not only did Brevard nab a couple of players, but it also nabbed baseball and softball coaches.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – While no Brevard County baseball or softball teams made a run for a state title, several players were invited to compete in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star game.

Not only did Brevard nab a couple of players, but it also included baseball and softball coaches.

The 47th Annual FACA All-Star Classic was held at Stetson University, Melching Field at Conrad Park.

The players and coaches are selected from four regions: North, South, East, and West. All teams played two games: one on Wednesday, May 27, and another on Thursday, May 28.

The first player invited to the All-Star Classic was Eau Gallie Commodore, Brock Lustic, who had a phenomenal senior year.

As a pitcher, he finished with a 1.92 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched. In just a short time, Lustic will be headed off to the University of South Alabama to continue his baseball career.

Along with his pitching abilities, he also swung the bat well, posting a .234 avg, 1 hr, and 14 RBIs.

The next Brevard County player selected to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Classic is Gabriel Gonzalez-Bonne of the Rockledge Raiders, who has been a key piece of the Raiders baseball team year in and year out.

Gonzalez was named the District 12-4a Player of the Year, a consistent hitter who batted over .400 this season, and will be heading to Miami Dade College to continue his baseball career in College.

The third player selected to the FACA All-Star game is Cole Carroll of the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers.

A big time senior season for Carroll, batting .460, with a home run, 17 stolen bases, and ten runs batted in, he was a force in helping the Hustlers to a 13-8 record this season.

Next year will be heading to Murray State University to continue his playing career at the collegiate level.

One of the assistant coaches for the East team is TJ Gaudy, the Satellite Head Baseball Coach, who had a better-than-average year and led the team to the playoffs.

Gaudy is a former Division I baseball player, having played at Eastern Florida State College and the University of North Florida.

Along with the top baseball players in the state, the top softball players in the state have made their way to DeLand for the 37th Annual Softball All-Star Classic, May 28-29 at Patricia Wilson Stadium from Stetson University.

Brevard County has more representatives, including Elena Rollen from Merritt Island High School.

Rollen was the Space Coast Daily Breakfast of Champions swimmer of the year last year, as she has swam for Rockledge.

However, on the softball field for Merritt Island, she batted .451, racking in 15 RBIs and stealing eight bases.

Earlier this year, Rollen committed to Oklahoma Christian University as a dual sport athlete, where she will swim and play softball.

Eau Gallie Commodore Ainsley O’Dell was a major contributor to the Commodores’ success, batting .442 with three home runs and 24 RBIs.

From her freshman year on, O’Dell has improved with each season, and now she is committed to the University of West Florida to further her education and athletic career.

One of the assistant coaches for the East team All-Stars is Merritt Island Head Coach Jason Palmer, who led the team to an upset in the playoffs and a regional semi-final appearance.  Palmer has been the head coach since 2020 and is looking to lead Merritt Island past the first and second rounds of the playoffs.
