Special Weather Statement Issued for Palm Bay, Melbourne and West Melbourne Until 9 p.m.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for Palm Bay, Melbourne, and West Melbourne that remains in effect until 9 p.m. EDT Sunday.

A strong thunderstorm moving through the area is capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 mph.

While no hail is expected, the storm may bring brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning.

The affected area includes portions of southern and central Brevard County, including Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, Melbourne, West Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Malabar.

Residents are advised to seek shelter in a sturdy structure as the storm moves through and avoid outdoor activities until conditions improve.
