Wastewater Infrastructure Improvements Prompt Partial N. Riverside Drive Closure in Indialantic
By Space Coast Daily // May 19, 2026

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County will begin another infrastructure improvement project on Tuesday, May 26, requiring the closure of a portion of North Riverside Drive, just north of Alamanda Court in Indialantic.
The project will fully close N. Riverside Drive for approximately two weeks, followed by intermittent single lane closures for an estimated two months.
The project will convert existing septic systems to a centralized gravity sewer system along North Riverside Drive, Rose Marie Lane, and Alamanda Court.
To assist drivers during the closure, clearly marked detour signage will be in place.
The detour routes are as follows:
Southbound Traffic: Pinetree Drive to A1A to Grosse Pointe Ave. to N. Palm Ave. to Franklyn Ave.
Northbound Traffic: Franklyn Ave. to N. Palm Ave. to Grosse Pointe Ave. to Pinetree Drive
Access to residential driveways will be maintained at all times. Construction schedules may be adjusted due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Another project along Shore View Drive is also progressing and includes the extension of an existing gravity sewer main and the necessary roadway reconstruction, asphalt resurfacing, and site restoration following construction.
The contract for both projects has been awarded to Atlantic Development of Cocoa, Inc. in the amount of $908,559.
Both projects are funded by the voter-approved Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) program. These projects are designed to enhance wastewater management and reduce nutrient impacts to the lagoon by expanding access to centralized sewer service. Construction has a tentative completion date of October 2026.
Brevard County appreciates the community’s patience as we improve our essential County infrastructure.
