BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — A Memorial Day weekend fisheries enforcement operation in Brevard County led to the recovery of illegally harvested fish and showcased the coordinated efforts of multiple Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers and K9 teams.
According to FWC officials, officers responded to an anonymous tip regarding individuals allegedly cast-netting redfish illegally beneath the State Road 520 Bridge.
What initially appeared to be a routine fisheries violation quickly escalated into a coordinated investigation involving surveillance, a vehicle stop, K9 tracking teams, and evidence recovery efforts.

During the operation, officers recovered:
• One oversized and out-of-season redfish
• Nine undersized sheepshead
• Several mullet
• Fishing equipment
• Discarded evidence linked to the investigation
FWC officials praised the teamwork displayed throughout the operation, noting that multiple officers and K9 teams worked together to locate evidence and document violations.
The agency emphasized that protecting Florida’s fish and wildlife resources depends on public involvement and encouraged residents to report suspicious or illegal activity.
