BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina is encouraging residents to celebrate community achievements, prepare for hurricane season, and honor important historical milestones in his June 2026 Mayor’s Message.
Medina opened his monthly message by congratulating the Class of 2026 on reaching graduation, calling it a significant milestone that reflects years of hard work, perseverance, and growth.
“As you step into this next chapter, know that your future is full of opportunity,” Medina said, encouraging graduates to continue learning, embrace challenges, and pursue their goals with confidence.
With students now out of school for the summer, Medina also reminded motorists to exercise caution on local roads and in neighborhoods, where more children will be outside enjoying their break.
“Let’s make safety a top priority and help ensure a fun and accident-free summer for our community,” he said.
The mayor reflected on his annual State of the City Address, delivered during the May 21 City Council meeting, in which he highlighted investments made over the past year in public safety, infrastructure, economic development, and quality-of-life initiatives. Medina reaffirmed his commitment to building a strong and resilient Palm Bay for future generations.
With the Atlantic hurricane season officially beginning June 1, Medina urged residents to prepare now rather than wait for a storm threat. He encouraged residents to review the city’s hurricane preparedness resources, create emergency plans, and assemble hurricane supply kits.
“Plan, don’t panic,” Medina said, emphasizing the importance of readiness before tropical weather impacts the region.
Throughout the message, Medina also recognized several significant June observances, including D-Day on June 6, Flag Day and the U.S. Army’s birthday on June 14, Juneteenth on June 19, and Father’s Day on June 21. He encouraged residents to reflect on the sacrifices and contributions of those who have shaped the nation’s history and freedoms.
Looking ahead, Medina invited residents to attend Palm Bay’s Independence Day Celebration on July 4 at Eastern Florida State College’s Palm Bay Campus.
The event will feature food trucks, local vendors, family activities, and a fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks as part of the city’s kickoff celebration for America’s 250th birthday.
“This isn’t just another Fourth of July,” Medina said. “It’s part of a once-in-a-generation celebration of our nation’s history, and Palm Bay is ready to light up the sky.”
The annual celebration is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on July 4 and is expected to draw families from across the community for an evening of patriotic festivities.
