BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – SpaceX is taking another major step toward deep-space exploration, announcing plans for two groundbreaking commercial human spaceflight missions that will carry private astronauts beyond Earth orbit and eventually toward Mars.
Chun Wang, the mission commander of Fram2 — the first human spaceflight mission to fly over Earth’s polar regions — revealed that he will serve aboard Starship’s first human spaceflight interplanetary mission to Mars.
The ambitious two-year mission will venture beyond the Earth-Moon system, conduct a flyby of the Red Planet, and then return to Earth.
Before embarking on the historic Mars journey, Wang will join billionaire entrepreneur Dennis Tito and his wife, Akiko Tito, on Starship’s first planned commercial human spaceflight around the Moon.

The week-long circumlunar mission is designed to advance Starship’s capabilities for deep-space and long-duration travel.
During the mission, the spacecraft is expected to fly within approximately 200 kilometers of the Moon’s surface before returning to Earth.
The announcements mark another milestone in SpaceX’s efforts to expand human access to space beyond low-Earth orbit.
Since May 2020, SpaceX has safely transported 78 crew members from 20 countries to and from space aboard its Dragon spacecraft.
The company has completed 20 crewed missions, including seven commercial and private astronaut flights, helping open new opportunities for non-government astronauts to experience spaceflight.
With Starship, SpaceX aims to push those boundaries even further.
