Brevard County communities are preparing for one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in history as cities from Titusville to Palm Bay commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with parades, concerts, fireworks and family-friendly festivities.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Brevard County communities are preparing for one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in history as cities from Titusville to Palm Bay commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with parades, concerts, fireworks and family-friendly festivities.
The nationwide semiquincentennial celebration marks a historic milestone in American history, and communities throughout Florida’s Space Coast are planning expanded events to honor the nation’s founding while recognizing the military veterans, first responders and community members who have helped shape the country over the past two and a half centuries.
Titusville Takes Center Stage
Titusville’s annual Red, White and Boom celebration will serve as one of the county’s signature events, featuring a morning patriotic parade followed by an evening festival and fireworks display at Sand Point Park.
The Independence Day parade begins at 9 a.m. on July 4, traveling from Titusville High School through downtown before concluding near City Hall. The procession is expected to include colorful floats, veterans organizations, civic groups, youth organizations, and community participants celebrating America’s birthday.
Titusville Mayor Andrew Connors is scheduled to participate in the parade before joining a veterans tribute ceremony outside City Hall.
Among the participating organizations will be the Civil Air Patrol Cadets, showcasing the area’s long-standing commitment to youth leadership and aviation education.
Residents lining the parade route will have numerous opportunities to watch the celebration, including reserved seating at the historic Pritchard House, where guests can enjoy views from both the lower and upper porches.
The parade is being coordinated through a community partnership that includes Indian River Church, which is assisting with organizing participating floats.
Evening Festival at Sand Point Park
The celebration continues from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Sand Point Park, located along the Indian River at 101 North Washington Avenue.
The waterfront festival will feature live patriotic music, food trucks, local vendors, family entertainment, a children’s activity area, and a DJ throughout the evening.
The Titusville Elks Club plans to display a replica of the original American flag as part of the patriotic observance.
Organizers will provide seating for veterans and visitors, although attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for additional comfort.
The evening concludes with a fireworks spectacular beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m., lighting up the skies above the Indian River.
Celebrations Planned Throughout Brevard County
Communities across the Space Coast are hosting their own commemorative events throughout the holiday weekend.
Merritt Island
The Independence Day Parade and America 250 Celebration begin at 10 a.m. at Merritt Island High School before continuing to Edgewood Junior/Senior High School and the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center Plaza.
Following the parade, visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks and patriotic festivities honoring veterans whose service helped preserve the nation’s freedoms.
Cocoa Beach
The City of Cocoa Beach will kick off its celebration on Friday, July 3, with festivities from 5 to 10 p.m. at City Hall in downtown Cocoa Beach.
The celebration includes carnival games, live entertainment, a children’s activity area, photo opportunities and a choreographed drone light show beginning at 9 p.m., providing an alternative to traditional fireworks over the beach community.
Melbourne
Melbourne’s Independence Day activities begin early with the annual Firecracker 5K at Eau Gallie Square, launching the 2026-27 Run Brevard race season.
Later in the day, the city’s annual MelBOOM celebration takes place from 3 to 9:30 p.m. at Front Street Park.
The family festival includes food vendors, live performances, children’s activities, and patriotic entertainment, culminating in fireworks illuminating the waterfront at 9 p.m.
Free shuttle transportation will be available between Melbourne Auditorium and Front Street Park throughout the event.
Rockledge
Families looking for an old-fashioned community celebration can attend the 39th Annual Rockledge Independence Day Picnic at McLarty Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The longtime tradition features children’s activities, water slides, live music, and affordable food, including hamburgers and hot dogs with chips and drinks available for $1.
Port St. John
The Thunder Over the Indian River celebration begins at 4 p.m. at the OUC Indian River Power Plant property.
The free community event includes barbecue, craft vendors, raffles, bounce houses and family entertainment before a fireworks display launches over the Indian River at 9:15 p.m.
Palm Bay
Palm Bay’s annual Independence Day celebration returns to the Eastern Florida State College Palm Bay campus from 5 to 9 p.m.
Visitors can enjoy live performances, food trucks, community vendors and family activities before fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
Admission and parking are free.
Cocoa
The Brevard Symphony Orchestra continues one of the county’s most beloved traditions with its free Symphony Under the Stars concert at Cocoa Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village.
The outdoor performance begins at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks over the Indian River at 9:15 p.m.
Viera
The Great American Celebration in Viera concludes the holiday with a fireworks display beginning at 9 p.m. near the USSSA Space Coast Complex, offering residents another opportunity to celebrate America’s historic milestone.
Historic Anniversary
The 2026 Independence Day observance holds special significance as communities nationwide celebrate the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
