$4.7 million stormwater project will install baffle boxes at key outfalls along Indian River Drive
The City of Cocoa has been awarded more than $7 million in State of Florida funding to advance three transformative projects that will improve transportation infrastructure, protect the environment, and expand recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The City of Cocoa has been awarded more than $7 million in State of Florida funding to advance three transformative projects that will improve transportation infrastructure, protect the environment, and expand recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.
The funding, approved by Governor Ron DeSantis as part of Florida’s Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget, includes:
– $2 million for the construction of an access road serving the future Cocoa Multi-modal Station.
– $4.7 million for the installation of stormwater baffle boxes along Indian River Drive to improve water quality entering the Indian River Lagoon.
– $375,000 to enhance Provost Park with additional recreational amenities, including soccer mini-pitches and landscaping improvements.
“These investments represent another major step forward for the City of Cocoa,” said Mayor Michael C. Blake.

The $2 million appropriation for the Cocoa Multi-modal Station access road will help provide critical infrastructure needed to support the future passenger rail station, improving connectivity for residents, businesses, and visitors while strengthening the Space Coast’s transportation network.
The $4.7 million stormwater project will install baffle boxes at key outfalls along Indian River Drive.
These underground treatment structures capture trash, sediment, and other pollutants before stormwater enters the Indian River Lagoon, helping improve water quality and supporting the long-term health of one of Florida’s most important estuaries.
At Provost Park, the $375,000 investment will fund additional recreational amenities, including additional soccer mini-pitches and enhanced landscaping around the existing soccer fields.
The improvements are designed to increase opportunities for youth sports, encourage active lifestyles, and create an even more welcoming destination for families
The appropriations build upon the City’s ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure, preserve natural resources, and create vibrant public spaces that support continued economic growth and community well-being.
