BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Florida State Parks Foundation is encouraging Floridians to show their love for the state’s award-winning parks by purchasing the “Explore Our State Parks” specialty license plate, with proceeds directly supporting conservation projects and park improvements across Florida.
The foundation recently unveiled a new billboard in Orlando near Wekiwa Springs State Park to promote the specialty plate and raise awareness about the impact each purchase has on Florida’s 175 state parks.
Each “Explore Our State Parks” license plate costs $33, with $25 from every sale going directly to the Florida State Parks Foundation to fund projects that enhance visitor experiences, improve accessibility, and help protect the state’s natural resources.
Since the specialty plate launched in 2022, revenue has helped fund a variety of initiatives, including:
– The “Great Blue Heron,” an accessible hybrid-electric tour boat at Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park.
– Water bottle refilling stations at nearly 100 Florida state parks.
– Energy-efficient LED lighting upgrades.
– Emissions-free e-bikes for park rangers.
– Battery-powered tools, machinery, and equipment used to maintain park facilities and landscapes.
Foundation officials say the specialty plate provides one of the simplest ways for residents to support Florida’s state park system every time they drive.
